NZALPA are constantly looking at ways to improve communication with our members. The 2Way Smartphone App has been a significant positive tool in helping us to achieve this goal. 2Way have been very pro-active and thorough in working with us to set up and integrate the App into NZALPA’s communications systems and then launch the App to our members.
The benefits of adapting the 2Way solution rather than developing our own solution are that we were able to get the App to the members far more quickly than we would have been able to if we had developed it alone, it has also been a significant advantage to be able to share ideas and lessons learnt for the App with a larger group of like-minded pilot associations like FIA.
The 2Way app has been extremely successful at FIA; the uptake among members is around 90% and most of the pilots use it many/several times a week. It has made the younger pilots more aware of the union and what is happening there, and valuable input is received from pilots every month for the Company Council to utilize. It is also a valuable tool to gather statistics on reported issues.
Pilots associations need to work effectively and share ideas with others facing similar issues - using 2Way could make a small, but important, contribution to this. 2Way has been an excellent partner in this project and we look forward to an ongoing partnership with them.
The development of 2Way would not have been possible without our launch clients and development partners, BALPA and FIA. It was also greatly facilitated by the recognition of the Icelandic Technology Development Fund (Tækniþróunarsjóður) which provided 2Way with a three-year project grant.
